Well on my way to work I was feeling a bit tired and actually fell asleep . I almost crossed into on coming traffic but woke up before i did and had time to react . after that I turned around and went home . boy did that scare the hell out of me. Still trying to figure out what happened

what the hell dude? up too late last night? atleast ya didnt kill yourself!

The only thing I can think of is fatigue and I was coughing last night so I took some nite quill at mid night I guess it was not out of my system . I have been pulling long hours at home fixing other peoples cars and other things . so I guess it just caught up with me .

Never fallen asleep while moving, but used to catch myself dosing off at long stop lights, thankfully I usually put the car in park or nuetral with the parking brake.

Glad your ok!

Sounds like Throat Fatigue ,Have you tried to swallow anything big lately??Unchewed food?,a pickle?,Cucumber?Anything like that?

^^^ bwahhahaha

On a serious note, according to insurance companies sleepy drivers are an even bigger threat and expense to drivers than DUIs. Mostly b/c its not illegal and nobody really thinks about it.

I have problems w/ this occasionally. Once we were coming down the mt on 421 between Wilsboro and Yadkinville, I dozed off driving my wife's Saturn, drifted off the left side and woke up just before it hit the guard rail and did a nice rail slide. Scared the shit out of both of us.
Left a nice big "racing stripe" down the whole side of the car. We had the car for 8 more years afterwards and never fixed it, I thought about how lucky I was every time I walked by.

I did this coming home from MDI after working 15 hours in the freezer one morning and rear-ended a truck. Scared the shit out me and I never went back to work there. Luckily I hit the courier truck for the bank my dad works for so the po-po never got called.

Thats right, Its Zack's fault! Say no more! haha :D

I hate to admit it but its only by the grace of God I'm not dead, I never get enough sleep . . . you can put together the rest. I can very easily see how falling asleep at the wheel is considered more dangerous than drunk driving, I scare the crap outta myself all the time. Not braggin, its a very serious thing, just trying to tell people not to blow it off, its not cool trust me, I'm either gonna hurt myself or someone else one day.

Over the years I use to drive 18 wheelers and I have driven the worst time for truckers to drive , I have never had a problem with falling asleep while driving . this is the first and hopefully the last time .

Yea I honestly don't understand how truckers do it, If I just sit still I start to fall asleep, maybe I'm just weird like that, idk.
