Fence Materials

If you can catch home depot in a sale, you can get pickets (1x6), 4x4's, and 2x4's for cheap. Certainly not the best quality but most affordable, and better than lowes.

I too am interested and building a fence in the next 30 days so if I hear of anything I will post it up here.

Stock building supply might be a good place to try and I am going to try and hit a couple of the lumber places on 421 in Kville. Will post my findings.

I fear that I'm gonna have to buy this stuff too in about a month. I'm gonna rip my old grass up hopefully sunday and get started on spreading poop and grass seed.

No more driving in the yard:shaking:

I have been trying to find 8' fence panels.
A lot of them are 8' wide, but I want 8' tall.

And no, I am not going to mount them sideways...:flipoff2:

Where do you get off saying that? I bet they're almost identical.

I own a local fence company in Morrisville (Eastern Fence Co.) We build 250-300 fences a year, and I can tell you just about anything thing you want to know about fence material in and around Raleigh, NC. Like I said Home Depot lumber (especially pickets) is better quality than Lowes. I purchase most of my material from Tarheel Wood in Morrisville or from Merchant metals. :flipoff2:

Thanks for the input. I am planning on doing the 4x4 posts with 4 rails of 1x6's with a thin wire in between to keep the dogs in. I figure I can do it for about $40 bucks per 8" panel.

You have got the right idea, you could go with 3 rails and be just fine with the right spacing, and $5 per foot will be plenty, if you install yourself you should be under that price.
