trying to keep it on the cheap. i have a trail gear orbital.
looking for a single ended ram. but i'm not sure what size bore or shaft just know i need 8" travel

and my pump now. i have a stock pump from my 4.0 jeep motor. it has the 99+ intake(if it makes a difference on models)
is there any pump mods i can do? or is a pulley enough to push 42's?

i was thinking this ram.

50 buck more can get you a 2x8 dual ended ram from there Ill find a link soon. Any reason to wanting to run a se ram? There are upgrade I think, I can't remember there's a lot of info on pirate about those pumps.

What's the cu. In of your orbital? How many turns do want lock to lock? What size tire?

so figure the cu. of your ram. VS. the cu. per rev. of you orbital & this will tell you how many turns lock to lock.

Pretty sure it can, you have a tc style pump I look on pbb. I remember some threads over there.

ok guys going to bring this back up. i have everything installed and i'm not liking it. the wheel feels slow doing a right turn. if i shake the wheel left to right and bring wheel back to "center" my wheels work there way to the left. i have mod the pump as the one i seen on pirate. drilled it to 5/32 if i recall (the biggest it said to drill it)
what is next? new pump? need volume? the full hydro bible is long and i really dont have the pacients to read it.

its a trail gear. put a post on pirate but they seem to think i'm a dumbass. haha

prob should have kept the double ended ram haha. the lock to lock sucks with this single ram. one side is 1.5 lock other is 3-3.5 lock

Contact trail gear and tell them you want a new orbital. Something doesn't seem right about the lock to lock turns, hopefully somebody will chime in.

i know the lock has to do with it being a single ended ram. but it not returning to straight confuses me. ive had it for 2 years.

On a single ended ram it takes more fluid to turn one way vs the other due to the volume of fluid the shaft displaces, it will never return to the same place because you have to turn the orbital more one way than the other to make it go to the closed end of the ram....

Exactly.... It takes say 1 turn to move you wheels 30* one way but the same one turn the other only turns them 22* so when you turn back the one turn there is an 8* difference. Make sense???

There is also always leakage Through the valve when turning. Your wheel will never return to the exact same position.

Yes.

run a dual single ended cyl. Set up. I have a speed ball on my steering wheel. Never in the same place lock to lock. The way the orbital works, there will always be internal leakage.

...my dbl ended PSC system always returns to the approx center position. This is because my orbital is 'load reactive'. That makes em return to center.

All PSC orbitals are 'load reactive'. Maybe the TG orbital isn't load reactive?

And yes with an unequal volume, single ended ram, steering will be quicker in one direction than in the other. This may also affect the 'return-to-center' even if it is a load reactive orbital?
