parts number..... 15002..... $439.20 2003-2004 Ford 6.0L Powerstroke Evolution
anyone have this model and do you like it? i dont want anything crazy but a little boost would be great
I havent heard good or bad about those, but most of the people on ford truck/diesel sites like ford-trucks.com or thedieselgarage.com recommend the sct tuners for the 6.0 with custom tunes.
I've been running a SCT X3 tuner in my 03 6.0 since mid 07 and love it. I just installed an SCT livewire in a friends 06 F350 a month ago and installed one on another friends 04 F350 tonight. I got mine from Spartan Diesel which doesnt mess with the SCT tunes anymore (they came out with their own tuner) but both friends got theirs from Dfuser.com. Eric at Innovativediesel.com is also real good with custom tunes on these 6.0s
With custom tunes they can dial in your truck better than the generic tunes on most other programmers, they can make them smokeless or roll coal, turn the egr off so your less likely to blow egr coolers, tune out turbo lag for 6 speeds like mine, all you have to do is call them up and tell them what your doing with the truck and what mods you have.
You may want to research this a little more on the sites I posted above before you jump on that tuner. Thats just my $.02
No problem. I figured I'd point you to where the good info on the 6.0s is. I know a guy that was running a banks module in his truck and went through 2 sets of head gaskets on a moderate tune. I've been running the SCT for 3 years now (about 70,000 miles out of 170,000) mostly with Spartans Hybrid Race tune which is supposed to be 400+RWHP as my daily driver tune and towing with the Aggressive Tow tune once a month which adds about 60 HP over stock (and uses the variable turbo as an exhaust jake brake) and Im still on my stock head gaskets and bolts knock on wood
That Hybrid Race tune (named that cause it combines a street tune below 3/4 throttle and a race tune from 3/4 to WOT, not cause you need it to race hybrids) is hard on parts though. I blew up one clutch, a turbo, and the rear axle with it but its been fun.
yeah thanks im new to all this just trying to get info before i jump in there is a local shop that is well known that im gonna call tomorrow me mostly does dodge stuff but he has it all including a dyno so im sure he can help me out this is his site http://www.powerbypoole.com/home.html
Thats cool. Im running the X3. You can get custom tunes from anybody for about $30-40 a piece too once you get the tuner. I highly recommend that, cause the difference between the preloaded generic tunes that come on the x3 and the custom ones are night and day. It'll hold 3 preprogrammed and 3 custom tunes at a time.
All you got to do to get the custom tunes is call innovative or dfuser or one of the others (those two are the only ones I have experience with so far which is why I recommend them) and tell them what you have and they'll tell you what info they need from you about your truck and then they'll email the tunes to you. You download them from your computer to the SCT with a USB cable and go play.
By the way I finished my buddys 04 F350 2WD dually tonight, 4" summit turbo back exhaust and the SCT Livewire with DFusers "Wicked" tune and we just came back from leaving 4 "S" shaped skidmarks at a time on some backroads. That tune definately live up to its name
