I know a guy in Brooklyn named "Tony No Neck" & you better show him a little respect.

Uhh...didn't this already happen with renault 20 years ago, ending up with one of the best vehicles jeep has produced in the last three decades? (xj)

I thought it was peugot?

I thought it was peugot?
thought wrong
The French automaker Renault began investing in AMC in 1979. However, by 1987, the automobile markets had changed and even Renault itself was experiencing financial troubles. At the same time, Chrysler Corporation wanted to capture the Jeep brand, as well as other assets of AMC. Chrysler bought out AMC in 1987, shortly after the Jeep CJ was replaced with the AMC-designed Jeep Wrangler or YJ.

I'm sure the French government has a sizeable stake in both Peugot and Renault, so its no surprse to see Peugot crap make its way thru the Renault connection into Jeeps.

Ah yes, and the 85-87 XJs had fantastic drivelines, huh.

And renault did design it and pretty much start the suv revolution.

i could of sworn that was the bronco. Most notably, the classic (pre 80's) bronco Driven by James Garner in the Baja 1000 that brought the attention to the SUV market.

Even toyota had already jumped headfirst into the SUV market with FJ55 well before the 80s.

World wide Land Rover has been doing the SUV think since the 60's.

lol, anyway, i suppose both sides could argue this one for hours.

When has any jeep after the j truck had a driveline worth a shit?
They still designed the soccermom stationwagon suv concept.

Yes, the bronco was and is the greatest suv ever built...driven by parnelli jones and bill stroppe in the 1000 but it still was nowhere near the start of the suv overtaking America.
You could add every fj and rover sold in the US in the last four decades and it still would touch the number of xj's. There isn't much comparison.

Ok, it was obviously the XJ that started it. Did you guys not see The Goonies?
