just looking to get opions on Teraflex's new leaf springs. i've read the artical in Feb 07 issue of Pertersen's 4Wheel & Off-Road mag. sounds pretty good to me.

I wonder what the life of those are. I know they say they are extremely tough, but they are testing brand new springs. What happens in a couple of years?

My biggest concern would be bent leaves. With steel at least you can still drive. Fiberglass would just bust and leave you stuck until you put a new leaf on, right. I don't know how they are built, probably wouldn't understand if I did, but I have had to drive home with bent springs before.

Corvettes don't have 14" of suspension travel, either.

Chevy Luminas, and Astro vans used them as well, and they fail, and when they fail, it's to the stops, no kinda droopy, not saggin, just GONE, and the leaf looks like shreaded wheat.

Mono leaves sure look like a good idea, but rearly have they survived anything with a a high cycle range.

The monoleaf is deff a good idea and i think there were a few susp companies that at one time had a system out with 1-2 leafs in them.... would say that they would have to be thick or would sag/bend really quick

I have been reading about mono's and doing some research on them, and as much as I love the idea... I can't bring myself to spend that kind of money to "try" them out. I have read and scene steel leaf mono's break about 3 inches from the eye on the front shackle.

my biggest concern would bee drop impact.
A point jagged rock could puncture the glass and leave you with a majjor case of butt droop. No way would I even consider them for front.

I think a lot of it has to do with the design in the spring. Is it purely fiberglass made of resign, and cloth or did the incorporate some kind of metal in some ultra thin layers for strength. Look at how all Fiberglass is used. I mean look at those huge cigerette boats that take a beating in the ocean. I am sure a lot of design and research has gone into it. I am with you on the $ to "try" them out. I would love to see some one get them. Might make it hard to use and AAL if they sag. I say get them Dom and lets see how they work out. If you don't like them you can always sell them and get a little money back.

anyone know latin?

where is the latin?

I don't trust fiberglass when you add rocks. I like ride home failures, not tow home failures. Of course I tow, but towing off the trail sucks. Also I am not sure you could find a 14inch travel leafspring. I am sure that they will flex, but longevity is a big concern. Not sure why since I rebuild once or twice a year.
