Finally got the car running. Still have a bunch of buttoning up to do, but at least it runs.

I gutted the car completely, redid all the wiring, upgraded the front brakes, new clutch, brand new built LQ9 6.0L, painted the engine bay, everything.

Bad ass man, I love these cars would love to have one. I'm betting it felt great to hear that thing run after 2.5 years.

Congrats man, it sounds good. I've got a sbc 355 that I've been building since April and I cant' wait to hear it run. 2.5 years must have felt like a long time.

My garage is actually a lot cleaner, ask Lee.

But yeah, the garage is a disaster. We've been renovating the house and a lot of stuff is in temporary storage in the garage. Plus we've been getting rid of old baby stuff on Craigslist and that somehow gets stored in my garage too. I hate my garage.

I think I already asked (and then forgot), but what are the specs on the motor? Heads? Compression? Cam?

I just recently built an LQ4 myself. It's a fun little joker :D

It is an LQ9.

Bored .02 over with SpeedPro flattops. Pretty much zero deck. Heads are the LQ9 heads that have been cleaned up, fully ported, double valve springs, 3-angled and fitted with 2.055/1.60 stainless valves, port matched to intake. Cam is a Futral F13 cam - 230"/232" .595"/.585" 112LSA. Running the Professional Products LS6 intake with a ported stock throttle body and 36lb SVO red-top injectors. LS6 oil pump, billet double roller timing chain, and a 150 wet shot of nitrous.

Pretty healthy motor. :)

Now we wanna see a video like this

Makes me miss my '96 T/A. Granted it didn't have LS or LQ9 power, but it was still fun.

I knew it was an LQ9 :D You had told me before.

I started with an LQ4, which I originally thought was an LQ9, and swapped on some stock 243 heads to get about 10.4:1 compression, PAC single springs, pushrods, timing set, oil pump, JBA shorties, and a custom cut Comp cam. 214/218, .601/.591 on a 108* LSA. Still need some injectors, going with 42#. The stock 21# are at 100% duty cycle by 3800 rpm  It's torquey to say the least...and my Silverado is 5 speed :driver:

That should be a fairly stout cam. I like the 112 LSA and with a hair more duration than mine, it's probably got pretty good top end. Have you driven it yet? Or does it still need to be tuned?

It still needs a bunch of buttoning up. I had gutted the car completely, so there are a bunch of loose ends before I can drive it. The brakes aren't done yet, needs a tune, bunch of little piddly stuff needs to be put back on the car. Still a few weeks away from driving it.

Seen the Miata we put a LS 350 and auto out of a GTO in? I have never driven a car that lit the tires that easily. It was almost annoying, like driving on ice. We changed the rear gear to calm it down. Nice pontiac!

LOL! It took me 3 minutes to get into it and 5 to get out! 6 ft tall and manly proportions fit in a Miata like a fat foot in a undersized pump!

Exactly why I won't be owning one any time soon. 6'4" and 215 lbs, I'm built for big stuff.

A friend bought a Solstice back when I was a bit larger at 275lbs. I literally got stuck in it, took me forever to get out......while all my friends stood and laughed.

You guys think a Miata is small you should try a Lotus. I can't remember which Lotus it was but it was at a car show in Raleigh. I weighed ~215 then and it took me FOREVER to get in AND out.

My company rents me a car for longer trips. Always the smallest, cheapest thing they can get. My girl at Enterprise says, well a mini van is the same price, and I consider a truck to be the same as a mini van, she hooks me up with a crew cab SWB truck every time! Love that girl!
