Does anybody know what's happing with this?

How bad it is? I saw some pic's in another thread looks like just under growth & dead leaves, old fuel. Hopefully it is not burning the canopy.

i was out there until about 3 and we saw upper and lower dutch john had some pretty hot spots.ran across a forestry guy who was surveying the area

the fires appeared to be man made while we were out there we saw at least 5-6 un attended pits where people had camped out saturday night.I guess it always amazes me that some people complain that places to go 4wheeling are shrinking and at the same time they are careless in protecting the quality places we do have.

Usually they aren't the same people.

It burned about 40.3 acres. I put out one campfire left smoldering at Wolf Den trailhead and there was another down the road I was told. This fire was caused by carelessness. No agency would try to do a contolled burn in this drought.

How long are the trails going to be closed? ANy new word?

I just got a phone call from my wife's coworker. He is heading down there right now. He called ranger office at UNF, they said trails reopen at 8am tomorrow (Saturday).

This is secondhand info, but when I talked to him about 11am today, he was passing the Walmart at Bisco with Jeep in tow.
