Firestone Ride-Rite air bags?

Last year, I moved from a '99 F250 superduty (5.4, longbed, std cab) to a 2006 F250 Superduty (5.4, crewcab, shortbed).

The '06 sinks WAY lower with a load on it than the '99 did. I sold the 99 to a friend, and went over and looked at it...height measures about an inch shorter on the 06. Main spring packs look exactly the same (# of leaves, thinkness, etc), and the 06 has a factory overload spring in addition to the standard springs. I guess they lowered the spring rate for the soccer moms.

I am thinking about putting the Firestone Ride-Rite airbags on it. Around $300 bucks if I don't do a dedicated compressor.

Anybody have experience with them? Or at least an opinion or two?

I have had mine for about 3 or 4 years now and love them. I keep them air to 25 pounds unloaded and around 60 with camper and it helps a bunch with the bouncing I was getting before. Plus the load leveling is there also. the install was very easy also. I am in Sanford if you wanted to look at my setup before you order.

Do you have a son that works at a shop in town someone asked me today while getting my truck aligned about my ride rite , he said his dad just bought a f-250.

I've got a set on the Dodge. Pin weight on the gooseneck is about 3500#, and the 2500s don't have the secondary overload pack. I put about 30-40psi in them loaded, and that works pretty well.

They do impact the unloaded ride quality. Firestone says to keep a minimum of 5psi in them so that they don't accidentally bottom out, but I usually drain them completely and just keep an eye on it if I'm twisting the truck up.

I've never felt the need for the onboard compressor. The onboard regulator also vents into the cab, so you'll get a truck full of stinky air when you deflate the bags.

I got mine from Adventure RV. Pretty good prices as far as I could tell:

Thanks, Dave....I'd like to meet up and see them in person. I will pm my cell. And, no, no kids. I get to spend the college fund on toys. :D

Shawn, thanks for that link...cheapest by far.
