Where are you going?

We are thinking about going to Tweetsie Railroad for the afternoon, and staying for the fireworks, but I am concerned about the crowds in the afternoon on the rides.

If you want to watch tweetsies fireworks, but dont want to deal with the traffic, try thunder hill on the parkway. Great place to watch them.

When the girls were young we went to Tweetsi on the 4th for many years. Best Fireworks in NC.
Best thing is to just make a day of it. The "fireworks only crowd" who never go in the park start showing up by mid-morning and by noon traffic is a nughtmare.
Get there early enough to get in the upper parking lot, pack a cooler for a lunch of sandwiches. We always ate on the hill at the parking lot under the big tree.
Once we left the park, we grilled out in the parking lot for diner and then settled in for the show.
They set the fireworks off in the trainyard ...... so the fireworks are just about directly over the upper lot.

Then don't be in a hurry to leave. Traffic is crazy, but the NCHP does an awesome job moving cars.
