After it's been sitting for a few months, I have been able to drive my Jimmy again and I love it! Much better than my CJ!
Specs:
1971 GMC Jimmy
350/Q-jet
TH350
Np205
Dana 60 4.56 gears
14-bolt 4.56 gears with detroit and disc brakes
38" TSL radials (mall-crawling tires, looking to get some 39" IROKs on beadlockx for the trail)
lotsa rust...
Just got done putting a Dana 60/14 bolt combo with 4.56 gears and a detroit in the rear and 38" TSL Radials. Still need to upgrade to crossover steering, get front driveshaft cut down and installed, lockright in the front, hook up e-brake cable to eldorado calipers,...I am sure that it will never end. Still very redneck engineered and needs a lot of finishing to be "right."
Even with 4.56 gears I need more gearing. I accidentally drove a few miles in low-range and what's scary is that I think that I could actually "cruise' at about 30 mph without overrevving.
I feel an atlas 4 speed in my future.
No after pics yet, but here is a before teaser. It is just as ugly now if not uglier!

I'll try to take some after pics tonight.

Good to see the old iron moving! Needs a boost though. LOL.

Thanks,
Figure I'll post up pics of both my chevy/GMC herd. I have a jeep herd (J20 not pictured) and a lone dodge W250 (not pictured) as well.
Here is my CUCV M1008
6.2 diesel
TH400
NP208
Dana 60 open
14-bolt detroit
4" lift
36" Buckshot mudders
