Ok i have a 98 cherokee 4.0 ( 148,xxx Miles )

Pass side where bottom right fan shroud mounts to radiator is slowly leaking, noticed it tonight. Hasnt even moved fluid in the reserve yet. but what would yall do just replace it? Take it out and take it to a radiator shop?.. someone said something about taking some pliars to the crimp joint and trying to crimp it back some.. said they worked in a radiator shop and use to recrimp them, and it might work.

if i replace it i dont want another alum/plastic one. i want full alum. or metal.

any suggestions?.. i dont want 3 row. just single or 2 row.

anyone selling a used one cheap?.

thanks
Jonathan

If it was me, I'd be putting a new one in. Pulling a radiator from a Cherokee is a PITA (don't want to do it twice) and a new one is only $100. I'm not aware of any made without the plastic tanks. They aren't that bad. Yours lasted for more than ten years didn't it?

Agreed...just helped my bro replace his in his 98 a couple weeks ago. It's not worth fighting it and making what you have work...you'll have a higher repair bill and headaches than just buying a new one. Ended up taking about 6-7 hours...that was the first Chero rad I ever replaced...I didn't realize that just about the whole fricken front end had to come out. It's definitely not a job you wanna place a band aid on and then have to go back in there in a few weeks.

If it was me I would get a new one and replace it. It is a real pain to replace the radiator in a cherokee. You would not want to do it twice. Also, be careful buying one that says that it is all aluminum. The one that I ordered said that it was all metal and the one that I got was just like the oem one that has the plastic sides. Didnt want the return hassle so I just installed it hopefully it will last until the day after I get rid of the vehicle.

Call Gordons Radiator here in Winston... They've done ALL my rad work for the past 10 and were cheaper than 1-800-rad when I bought a new 3 core for the Moss a few years back, even sweating my odd brackets onto it.
