I know I am kinda on my own with my oddball rig, but does anyone have any input on this product?

http://www.fj40minispool.com/differential-parts/lockers

I will be tearing into my axles soon for gears and need to rectify my welded rear that started acting like it was open or had a limited slip.

I've never seen one. To the best of my knowledge nobody made a mini spool for a cruiser. I had seen where people fitted a gm 12 bolt mini spool.

I found it while looking up some info on the 12 bolt spool (which seems like a bunch of grinding). Don't think its been around for long or I would think I may have stumbled upon it sooner.

I'd like to hear someone say good things about it. There is a niche for a product like that. After I tear my axle apart I may become the NC4x4 guinea pig.

Yeah the avatar rig. There is a lockrite in front already. I am going to use it again this weekend to get some more firewood (see if it totally breaks) then I will take it all apart. I may try to reweld the third if it isn't totally fawked. Then toss the extra coin into some rear shocks, my stock Monroe's have seen better days and restrict flex.

I doubt it. I can get a complete rear for $250 shipped and my last one was free. Detroit is 1k and a full spool isn't available (c clips). If I get into that coin it will be a FF FJ80 rear with spool.

Try to find someone with a worn out lunch box locker. They are cheap/free most of the time. Weld that up and you have a spool. I've seen three of them done that way. Weld the side gears to the center section on each side. Put the center pin in and you got it. They work good and are strong.

I have a welded third with 4.10 gears..

I broke the pin and busted the carrier on my FJ-40 axle with the same mini-spool. I decided to pay for an ARB then instead of source a good carrier. This was on a very lightweight buggy. That said, I still have the side 'gears' for the spool.

My fat pig would probably shatter the damn thing if thats the case.

I have a welded third with 4.10 gears..
