I am wanting to run High Steer on my waggy dana 44. would i just use the F-250 flat top knuckles? what all to i have to get and do?

thanx

I believe those are what you want. The Ford knuckles have a different bolt pattern so you don't want to try them. If I rember my research it is chevy or gm knuckles you want.

those knuckles look right.

Personally, I dont like the steering arms that they include, when compared to BTF's or Parts Mike's arms.

What lug pattern are you going to go with?

I used flat tops off of J10 truck D44 to do mine. Just another option for you.

so if i use those knuckles i will have to get all new rotors, hubs, calipers, and outer shafts?

No, you can just use your waggy outers. I did the same on my dana 44 front.

ok, so i just need to get the Checy/FSJ Flat Tops and thats it. i am going with 6 lug. i had already bought new rotors, calipers/pads, and hubs for the waggy axle before i decided to try and do the high steer. if i do this all i have to do is get the chevy/FSJ flat top knuckles and all of my other will bolt up right or will i have to take all back to the parts store and get different stuff?

If you already have all of the 6 lug outers then you are good to go.

Here's mine...

There is a difference in caliper mounting brackets.. The 6 lug is different the 8 lug. When converting to 5 on 5.5 I had to use caliper mounts from an 8 lug 44, the 6 lug caliper mounting bracket would not work.

WFO sells used chevy knuckles that are ready to go, and you can always go Dedenbear if needed. We used dedenbears on a friend's wagoneer when we converted it to hi-steer, but the used ones work just fine too.

This IS NOT correct. Yes they are different, but You use the 6 lug caliper mounts with the 5 on 5.5 rotors, and small bearing spindles.

thanx for all the help. i just bid on a set of 1975 j-10 flat tops

The flat-top knuckles you want to avoid are most Fords (some are OK, but I don't recall which), Scout (they have 8-bolt spindles), and any drum brake (the spindle bolts aren't clocked right). All the parts you have from the spindle out will bolt to any 6-bolt knuckle.

FYI: I have a complete kit to put high steer on your D44. Includes milled, drilled, and tapped knuckles with new balljoints, correct height steering arms to clear a spring-over, mounting hardware, tierods w/1-ton ends, and reamed pitman arm. The full blown kit is $850. You can see the parts breakdown with prices at the following link...

If your friend is converting to 5 on 5.5 he should use 1975 chevy small bearing spindles and use all of the outers from a scout dana 44.
