FLEX vs LIFT

I have a 2000 tacoma with the 63" chevy spring swap in the rear. I got 6" of lift with the spring swap but I need 5 more inches to match the front sas. I don't have much budget so I was going to do a 3" block with a 2" add a leaf. I was wondering if the aal would take away the flex of the spring. I know blocks are bad, if you have any other suggestions I am open for your opinions. I have 8" shackles on the rear now from budbuilt and didn't know if I could go longer or not. Thanks for your help.

I was wondering if the aal would take away the flex of the spring.

YES, in a major way. I would lower the front to match the rear. Run a small block (3" or less), and add a traction bar if required.

Try to take a leaf out of the front to lower it down. 63s control axle wrap pretty good but the added leverage of the block means you will need a traction bar. We have one with 4-5 inches of lift with 39.5s so I don't know what you need all that height for.

Holy crap what kind of SAS did you do to get 11" of lift?

I'd drop the front down as well, at one time the SAS on my Tacoma would rub the fenders with 33" tires, you can keep them pretty low. I eventually went to 39.5" tires and moved the axle far enough forward to keep from rubbing much (if any), and was about as low as I could get it.

Have you thought about dropping your spring hangers to get some lift. If properly done, can be real cheap.

I'd like to see some pics of this. Personally I would still try to drop the front if you plan to do any wheeling with it.

I had 16" air shocks, D60, 39.5's, and the frame height was around 25-27" I think. That is probably 10" of lift INCLUDING the tires from what it was stock....

If you don't plan to wheel it, just whatever people that want lots of lift for no reason do: Booty fab it! (Just joking, we don't need another booty fab POS driving around on the streets)

Getting 5-6 more inches you are going to need a different driveshaft, and will definetly need to adjust the pinion angle.

would maybe a 3inch block with a 2inch zero rate add a leaf help work on urtruck? zero rate shouldnt hurt the flex. block u just have to be careful about

I wouldnt do this... its basically like having a 5" block...

Id try to lower it down, or build lower hangers like said. Run as short of a block as you haveto

If you have a long shackle in the rear, I would consider tacking that out. That will be a weak link if it doesn't have a gusset welded in, but it still sounds pretty long. You might have to change the springs out, but you will still have to run a angled block to get your pinion right

Blake, this is TALL for what WE like on here. We like our junk low and wide because we wheel the crap outta it. Your Taco is NICE! Are you gonna wheel it like we do? Call me and I can help you decide on what you wanna do, but it does sound very tall. Kyle (704) 264 5356:beer:

I vote for making drop hangers, heck while your at it go ahead and really drop the hangers front and rear with a subframe assembly, jack it up about 4 ft, put some 5 tons and rice and canes on it and you'll be good :driver:

But seriously id do drop hangers, blocks arn't gonna last in the rear if you wheel it, you can build ladder bars to handle a huge block if you wanted but that will also kill your flex.

I think I am going to drop the front a little and see. I want to run around 38's or 39's. I didn't know how big the truck was going to turn out when I was done I had to drop the front 6 inches already. If I drop it back down to just 6" lift and run the tires I want the height will be about the size of the front now. I will try to post up some pictures this weekend.
