Wife drove me up to the drug store to get some meds (I had eye surgery *again* this week).

Pulling out of the parking lot...right in front of us, a guy runs across the road, just 20' directly in front of us. Gets slammed by an oncoming car, over the hood, into the windshield, then rolls off the pax side, and does a 360 in the air, then slams to the pavement. Only good thing, he went over the car, instead of under it.

I got to him first, he was face down, his GF was wanting to roll him over. I was like...he's breathing, he's alive, so don't move him... Fire truck rolls up within 2 minutes, they must have been on the road in that area anyway, and bundle him off to the hospital.

Anyway, the point of telling this....it's one hell of a thing to see a person flipped thru the air like that. Seen too many after the fact...never any thing like that as it happened.

Just put a new dash cam in last week....in the Jeep...we were in the Nissan. :( Would have been front and center.

I had the misfortune of being the first one on the scene to an accident in my neighborhood this past summer. There was a truck towing a boat full of young girls back home after a drunk day on the lake. The distance from the ramp to most peoples houses is close, so some folks stay in the boat instead of getting out. A beautiful young girl was sitting in the bow and decided to stand up. Trailer hits a bump and tosses her face first between the truck and trailer. The the left two wheels of the trailer then run her over length wise up the right side of her body. I was riding my golf cart with my wife and kids right behind all of this. I parked the golf cart a good distance away so my kids couldn't see anything. I ran up to her and got to work. She quit breathing shortly after I reached her, so I had to move her. I rolled her over and drained a bunch of blood from her mouth and lungs. I started to do CPR but she started breathing again. She had a collapsed lung that I didn't know about and by rolling her on her side I luckily relieved the pressure and it inflated. That was pure luck, I was just trying to prep for CPR. I held her head in place in the position where she could breathe until the paramedics arrived. She was banged up pretty bad, with lacerations and road rash everywhere. She made it all the way to the hospital, but passed away on the operating table. She was like 20 years old. Shitty situation no doubt.
Anyway, not trying to steal your thread. I just understand what you mean by seeing it all happen right in front of you.

That the one that happened near Sanford right? I remember it made the news big time. Im about 20 minutes south near Anderson Creek so it was in the local paper and all.

I have seen a lot of after the fact injuries, but I did watch a 12 y/o boy get hit by a car once. I was washing my bike and the ice cream truck stopped in front of the house for a bunch of kids. One kid took off back around the front of the truck when a car came by and knocked him out of his shoes. All was well in the end thank God.

You're correct. It happened in Carolina Lakes.
That's what I thought when you started describing it. It sounded like a bad deal all around.

To make it worse, the guy driving was her boyfriend. He killed himself a couple of days later. Terrible.
Yea. He was in special forces I think. Fayetteville observer had a huge article about it.

I got hit by a Toyota Sequoia in a parking lot back in college. Knocked me about 20-25ft. I got up and walked away. My left wrist hurt a bit, felt sprained. 11 months later I decided to get it Xrayed. Yep, still broken! Doctor rewarded me with a nice incision and a titanium screw.

@jeepinmatt were you at the track when your dad had his wreck? Seeing an accident happen to a stranger is one thing but a family member would be a million times worse.

A fellow I work with was riding his motorcycle into work last year and hit some dude. The guy was crossing a 4 lane divided highway in the dark while dressed in black. Shook my co-worker up pretty bad not to mention messed his bike up and a little battle against a law suit from the victims son. The "victim" was hospitalized for some time. As a side note: be forewarned if you drive Airport rd in Arden. This "victim" has been seen by myself and several others crossing the road, in the dark, dressed in black. Sooner or later it's going happen again.

I Will aim for him if I see him! That's God's way of weeding out stupid people.

Sad stuff in this thread.

When I read the title though I immediately thought of the flips flops fly treadmill video on youtube.

Working In Chapel Hill years ago, 18 yo co-worker was driving a 90s Trooper we were headed west on Franklin St. just through the green light @ Columbia maybe 20 mph. A soccer mom, eastbound and stopped in the left turn lane let her 2 kids get out in the street to get some ice cream on the corner. A boy jumped out before we were near and dashed across our lane, his sister unseen, got out on the passenger side and ran around the back of their SUV and into the front fender as we passed and bounced down the side of the trooper, she was probly 6/8 yo and barely taller than the hood. Her leg was broken and she was banged up pretty good. If she had gotten infront of the trooper I think she would have been killed. My co-worker was shaken up to say the least but there was no fault for him. I grabbed our first aid kit and helped the injured girl and loaned my coat till the paras got there and kept thinking how the mom was going to explain this accident to her husband.

Talked to a guy today that knew the guy I saw get hit. Lived a while, but didn't make it. Hell of a thing...he wasn't watching traffic because he was in a major argument with his girlfriend at the time.
