My gf just closed on a double wide and is wanting to put that LVP flooring throughout the house. She went to Lowe’s and priced some out, had one of the Lowe’s contracted installers come out to give an estimate, they claimed they are gonna have to replace all the subflooring in addition to installing the new flooring....of course with the cost of supplies being absolutely ridiculous these days, this job was quoted at an ASTOUNDING 12k......there’s no way in hell I’d pay that to have flooring put down in a house. Am I missing something here? Anyone here on the board, local, that could offer a second opinion?......she just went through all the inspections and whatnot for an FHA loan, if the flooring was that bad, wouldn’t it have raised some red flags??

Lowe’s “free install” they’re going to get that money somehow. Find an independent contractor that’s local. Highly doubt subfloor needs to be completely replaced

That’s what I was thinking. I told her there ain’t no way it needs all new subflooring, they are just trying to make money off her. Hell the carpet in it now seems “newer” she just wants something different.....I’m not against laying the shit myself, she’s just got a time frame she’s looking at, getting paint done and floor done and aligning it with time when kids are with her ex and before she starts moving all her stuff in, just to make it all easier to get done

Call Doug Millers carpet sales in Kannapolis. We used them for our whole house recently and were pleased.

Just know that the floors need to be pretty flat for lvp. I just did my whole downstairs and it was a bitch since my subfloors are really screwed up. I did a lot of shimming with roofing paper.

Also, If you're thinking about installing it yourself I've used JJ Haines on Derita rd for a couple of customers houses. They were at least $1/sqft cheaper than anywhere else we could find.
