'73 Bronco, w/ an aftermarket 23-something gas tank in thw rear.
Been sitting a long time (years) w/ only very occasional running, workin on getting it going again.
it runs OK but keep running into times when it dies, the fuel filters are getting clogged.
I'm betting the tank need to be flushed out, will probably replace the line (rubber) too.

Is there any way to get it reasonably decent w/o dropping the tank out?

Well it turns out that some PO tack welded the tank mounts to the frame o_O:flipoff: so that sucker isn't coming out easily.
But the good news is... it was pretty much just out of gas . After sucking some gas through it, it's coming out pretty clear.
I'll replace everything past the tank, but now I'm open to suggestions on a good product I can pour down there and drain out to clean it a bit.

I know this is an old post (oct 13) but I wanted to share this info if anyone else comes across it. I have used a product called Kreme tank liner a number of times and it is awesome. It comes with a cleaner to remove the rust and then a sealant that applies a hardened coating to the inside of the tank. It will all but never rust again. Depending upon how severe the rust in the tank is the process can take from a few hours to a few days. I have found taking a bunch of nuts and bolts and throwing them in the tank with the rust treatment helps scrub the inside. For larger gallon tanks (as on cars etc) get a buddy to help you agitate the tank with the bolts in it. Here is a link to the product. I have personally restored a number of tanks with this stuff small and large and it works. http://www.kreem.com/index.html
