will the flywheel from an amc 304 work on an amc 360 with a t-18/d20 behind it?

From what I have been told it needs to be a 360 flywheel because of the balancing.I know for a fact you don't want to use a 258 flywheel...vibes from hell.

ok. all i have is a flex plate bc previous owner had an automatic chevrolet tranny behind it but i'm throwin a t-18 back there and need to put a flywheel back on it

Flywheel?

Sure some one will provide correct info. I've heard various things, that i don't remember; could do with type of harmonic balance r. I do know that I had a 401; had to p/u a flywheel, found one at a clutch rebuild shop. It was double drilled for 10, or 11" disc. [think in.s correct] 401, didn't work out for me, but I kept the flywheel. Running it on my 304, with no problem.:driver:

yep. AMC engines are externally balanced, so it would be best to run a 360 flywheel.

Any decent automotive machine shop should be able to re-balance it for you...

The the only difference 304 & 360 flexplates are the location of the location/indexing of the counter weight. LoMod & I moved the weight on a 304/BOP TH-400 flexplate to match a 360/AMC TH-400 and it ran like a top!
