Every year at this time my freakin allergies go NUTS! Damn eyes about swollen shut, nose running like a faucet, etc. Anyone know what allergen JUST started today? What the hell am I allergic to? The pollen a few weeks ago did not bother me.

There is not telling. I have been to get allergy tested twice in two years. Over 300 tests and we are still hunting. With testing at least you get meds to keep it tolerable.

Can't anwer your question - but I have started using Flonase and found it help a lot. It's available as a generic (Fluticasone propionate) in a nasal spray. Technically it's a corticosteroid, but since it's applied directly to the nasal cavity you don't have the side effects of normal systemic corticosteroids.

Bonus is that it's covered by most insurance policies since it's technically not just an anti-alergen like Allegra.

I use a combo of Flonase ( the generic) and Allegra-D.
Seasonal allergies and a very dusty work environment dictate that I take them daily. My insurance covers both.
They work well together, w/out them I would be like you 24/7.

Really, go see a doc. It's well worth it.

The trees (in general) were first and now the grass pollens are kicking in. I'm the same way. The first few waves of yellow pollen don't make a dent in me, but I can tell when the "right" allergens get airborne. Best to visit an allergist and get it pinpointed. Allergy shots, zyrtec and occasionally rhinocort is my current menu and it works great.

It might just be the buildup of pollen or high amounts of dust/pollen at your job or home. Mine do the same thing. You gonna put some pics up from Tellico?

I'm also on Flonase and Allegra. I don't have to take the Allegra all the time - only on days I know I'll be out in dust/pollen a lot (like if bush-hogging, or this past weekend in the dust at Uwharrie). This is the first year that I'm using only Flonase every day (last year I was just on Allegra, no Flonase), and I like this year better.

Also a trick I learned from my doc - if your eyes are really bothering you, buy some Johnson & Johnson's No-Tears baby shampoo to wash your eyes. She said that if pollen gets around your eyes and on lids and eyelashes, it will bother your eyes and also your nose because your eyes and nose are connected by some passage. So wash your hands really well with the shampoo, then use it to wash all around your eyes, including lids and eyelashes - with your eyes closed, don't wash inside your eye. :) It definitely made a difference for me - before I knew that, there would be a week each year where my eyes were bloodshot and burning and nose was running and I walked around looking like a crying crackhead all day.
