Found this on another sight thought I would pass it along.

I was leaving Jared Jewelers in League City, Texas when I noticed a sign banning concealed carry in their store. So, I left my firearm in my car, turned around, and returned the $4,000 in jewelery I just bought. The manager seemed to care less about the return, even though I told him I was doing this in response to their sign. I then emailed the company, and here is there response:

"I would like to respond to your e-mail concerning the Firearms/Weapons policy posted at our Baybrook Mall location.

Even though many states have laws permitting residents to carry concealed weapons and firearms, private employers have the right to ban weapons and prohibit persons with weapons from entering the premises. For the safety and security of our customers and store employees (Jared or Kay Jewelers) has made the decision to ban weapons and anyone possessing them from entering the store.

Sincerely,

Michelle P.
Customer Care Representative"

Hopefully, some of you guys will not shop at "Jared or Kay Jewelers"

We had a restaurant here (since closed). They put up no-guns signs. I spoke with the manager, soon thereafter, he had die-cut vinyl lettering added below the sign... "Except for lawfully carried weapons pursuant to N.C. G.S. xxx.xxxx". Sometimes, letting them know does work.

It's ironic that as I am reading this post there is an advertisement at the top of the page for Front Sight Firearm Training Institute .

From what I've been told, it's a liability thing. Like if someone did go in there and shoot someone the company can say they tried to do something to prevent it. I've also been told that they're scared that a simple confrontation between customers could turn into a shoot out. I don't agree with it, just saying what business owners/managers have told me.
Remember, concealed means concealed.

If I am out of my house other than schools and gov't buildings I am carrying. I am not a sitting duck for anyone. I would rather be judged by 12 then carried by 6. Just my opinion.

Also remember, it is just a tresspassing ticket to have a concelled weapon in an establishment that does not allow weapons (minus state mandated buildings/areas). But if they do find that you had a weapon you could lose your CCW

Don't take this wrong, but nobody knew you were carrying a weapon till you said something. I carry every where I go, sign or no sign. I'm 56 and been carrying since I was 18, never had or will have a permit. As long as I act with some common sense, no body knows.

Good thing the jewelry i just bought was from Reeds. I dont have my concealed carry as of yet, but I will in the near future. I do carry alot of the time thou.

Liability issue I can see, However, how would the jewelry store feel in a stick up situation and one of their customers in the store was carrying and prevented the robbery? They would absolutely love them then....

I don't carry to protect other peoples' belongings, especially a retail store. If I'm in a store and it gets robbed, let them take whatever they want. That's what insurance is for. They can tote off the whole store, until I or my family is directly threatened.

If I had a retail store, I sure wouldn't want a customer trying to intervene in a robbery. (But then again, in my store, they'd already be dropped).

How much does Crimestoppers pay? I know where this guy who is illegal carrying hangs out....

I'm not ashamed or afraid to say this on a open forum, I'm living in the biggest glass house on the forum! I hide from no one.

Most definitely, But if your in the store that someone is attempting to rob at gun point, whats the likely hood that you will not be threatened?

Im not saying protect others rights (but if you wanna look at it another way, its like the law is granting you the ability that if indeed your life is threatened you can use necessary force, almost like being an un-deputized officer) but with protecting yourself, protecting others is a by product of doing so.

I believe there is a sign at Gander Mountain that says something to the effect "Please CCW here" :D

Just noticed that the original post was from another thread, I'm sorry to the poster. I thought you were the one complaining about the J store......my bad.

I know where you guys are comming from, I personally don't feel comfortable in an establishment that doesn't allow concealed carry. On the other hand some places where the employees are carrying and a robbery was taking place how would you know who to target if everyone drew a weapon.:uzi::uzi:

Quarry - good on ya..

I posed a similar question on a PA firearms board about carrying where it says no carry, and more than one person responded with "concealed is concealed".

I've been carrying semi-concealed lately, but PA is an open-carry state.

P.S. Some of the best belts I've found are made right in Apex.. "thebeltman.net"
