I was trying to remove the pressed-in heater hose fitting at the block and a big chunk of it fell into the block.
Where is it going to go? Do I need to get it out and if so how? Will removing the water pump get me to that area? I'd like t leave it if it is safe in there.
Thanks,
Charles

I wouldn't worry too much about it. You may be able to pull the pump and find it but might not. The coolant flows through the block from the pump then into the head, it'll probably settle down at the bottom of the coolant jacket in the block. The top of the cylinder and head is the most important parts to keep cool, I doubt you'd ever notice it, I've seen freeze plugs, parts of thermostats, bolts and all kinds of shit in the water jackets of engines I've torn down over the years.
