I have a 8.8 lock right that just won't work. the lock right will not stay locked when driving, ( it pops). the teeth are good on the side gears and the springs are brand new. tried to put shims on the side gears so it would push in closer. no good still did the same thing but not as bad. any help here?

Driving? On road or off? They are designed to differentiate when cornering on the road. They do make a poping sound when they differentiate.

does crosspin have flat spots the lockrights work off the cross pin not so much the spring pressure, case could be flared, and or side gear bore is out of round. try a new carrier and crosspin bet it works good, if teeth are good and the center ramp is good.

Had a buddys lock right do this and turns out his Axle bearing were bad, this was on a D35.

Were the Spiders bad when you installed the Lock Right, Could be a sign the bearing are shot. Another sign is the tube leaking fluid on a tire.

The axle shaft rides at an angle when the bearing are shot and causes the locker to not seat well.
