whats the best gear oil for a rear ford 9 with an ARB?
ECGS suggests Lucas brand non-synthetic for use in axles where their parts are installed. I tend to agree also.
I run 85/140 in everything I own
I am with you, walmart brand gear oil.. The supertech filters are very good too. made by wix.I put Walmart brand 85-140 in mine, but I’m cheap and I have a Detroit.
I thought there wasn't much difference, Until I watched the youtube synthetic motor oil test. In a Cold test, You'd have to Heat the Supertech, to get it out of the bottle! As thick as Roof patch tar!I am with you, walmart brand gear oil.. The supertech filters are very good too. made by wix.
There's a long ass write some where that backs up what ecgs said. I can't remember the science behind why they run cooler but I know it all came about when Ultra 4 cars started having gear failures when running synthetics. Once they switched back to dino gear oil the failures stopped.I asked ecgs why they didn't like synthetic. They said the oil ran cooler but the gears didn't. Anyone else have any input on this. I thought synthetic was the $hit.
