was getting into setting up my 9". i pressed on all the bearings and all.
when i was trying to get a pattern i assembled it with NO shims to see how deep the pinion would be. it seems to be centered with out any shims at all. started setting up the backlash and the teeth contact the pinion support bearing area.

i'll get my camera tomorrow to get pics. but has anyone had this probelm?

its 5:13 gears. stock housing, stock carrier, lock right

as long as you don't need the pinion to go deeper or it leaks, there shouldn't be a problem. My 9'' set up good with .020'' in shims which isn't much but more than 0

dont think i need it to go deeper, but i havent got the backlash set due to it hitting the casstings around the pinion support bearing.

lightly grind the pinion support. not an unusual problem

not a bad pattern, but look up yukon gear or randy's they have very good pattern pictures and info on how to adjust.

I would do some more work on the pattern before I ran them, the side shims need a little more, can't tell without putting my hands on it.
