ok so i have been lookin and askin around and my question is, is there such thing as an open carrier for the ford 9 inch? if so can you put a mechencial locker in it? If its possiable where can i buy these. thanks

Yes there are open diff'd 9's. If by mechanical locker you mean a lunchbox locker, yes they make those. Aussie and lockrite, powertrax no-slip are all lunchbox lockers that fit inside the open case. The detroit locker is also a mechanical/auto locker but it is a full case locker and replaces the open differential.

Like he said, they make them...but it's not necessarily a good idea depending on how hard on it you are. The case will split if you're using an alloy crosspin. 9" detroits can be had cheap.

we have new and used 9 inch open cases, drop in lockrights but as stated 9 grizzly locker similiar to detroit is way stronger and cheap, our number is in signature.

i have a open carrier . if you want it its free. had it replaced . put new gears in my 9 with a detroit locker. its just sitting around.:bounce2:
