Ford 9 inch pinion support bearing

I was putting my 9inch back together is there supposed to be a retainer that hold's the support bearing in the casing or does it just press in the old bearing was only half way in when I took it apart is it supposed to press all the way down
 
If you are talking about the rear support bearing, yes, there is supposed to be a metal retainer behind it. Check the case really good around that bearing. That area is very weak on stock cases

Do you know wat the piece is called so I can get a new one the install kit didn't come with one and there wasn't one on it when I took it apart
