I have a 98 Ford Explorer EB, It has a 302 and auto in it. Transmission started acting up about a week ago. ( Not that big of a deal since this is a 3rd Vehicle )

What it is doing. Drives fine then when you hit about 40 Mph and O/D kicks in it just revs up like you are in Neutral. If you hit the O/D off button it dosnt do it. Also if you are in D with O/D off it will go with a tad bit of Hesitation at first. Drop it down to 2nd and no problems at all.

The O/D light was Flashing but my scanner wont read Transmission Codes. Neither will the Advance Auto scanner.

Anyone have any Opinions?.. Or a good scanner that could scan it for me?..
I'm located in Winston-Salem

Thanks

You are still welcome to stop by the shop on Monday night but im gonna say with about 99% chance its not an electrical issue and is gonna need a rebuild/replace....maybe transman will see this....

if you are running a 5.0 i will assume you are running aod or aode.
if you have first and second only, then the high gear drum is bad.(clutches, sealing ring or drum has broken)
if you have first and 3rd then the band is bad.
the shift solenoids very, very rarely go bad.

you will most likely be looking at having it rebuilt.
