Found a old truck im looking at using to haul my jeep. I dont know a lot on the ford price stuff so looking for some help

Its a

79 F250 4x4 400/auto
crew cab with utlity bed
axles looked like D44/D60
High miles but runs decent..Not much rust if any..inside is bare bones.

Let me know thanks..also any advice if it would make a cool or decent hauler is appreciated:beer:

Crewcab? Those are considered collecable. I had a guy drive over 1000 miles to get one that was stripped and badly rusted from me.

Value - $2000 - $4000 depending on how clean it is and paint job.

BTW - should have 60 front

The 400 isn't a hot rod powerplant by any means, but the last one I dealt with with a 400, C6, stock 3.50:1 gears and 36" hawg radials would boil the tires on command, and seemed to have plenty of power to tow with. If you decide it's not enough a 460 is an easy swap into a factory 400 truck.

The crew cab should have a D60 front, though I have seen a couple with D44 fronts in them. The 2000-4000 price is pretty spot on depending upon cosmetics. If you decide to put a standard truck bed back on it longbeds are plentiful in decent shape.

First off...yes the CC probably does have a D44 up front, only the 78-79 250 Sno-Fighters and 79 350's had the HPD60...unless otherwise ordered. As for the truck...yeah that's a pretty 'rare' truck...pics would really help...could go for anywhere from 1500-15,000. But from your description, it sounds like it's probably a $3-4000 truck. As for the 400...there's nothing wrong with them and their 4" bore and stroke. I mean John Kaase must know what he's doing, because he's won a few engine building events with the Ford 400. The 400 is a pretty low buck engine...you just can't kill it, but they are notorious for low oil psi...but as long as that doesn't drop below 5psi at idle you'll be fine. You can also toss $2000-2500 at the engine and have 350ish hp/440ish tq.

BTW...you're not too far from me, so if you decide to pass on it, pass it on my way.

Thanks for the info..
Went back and looked at it a few mins ago. It does have a D44 up front and still cant find any rust other than some surface on the roof. Going back in a few to talk price. thanks for all the quick help! pics will follow.

Yep thats where all the surface rust is on this one.

Well......i bit the bullet and got the truck ...Hopefully for a good deal. . Also picked up a 460 block...a 64 ford truck and a 65 parts truck. Going to pick them up tue or wed...Ill have pics in the gallery of the new ford projects i snaged.. thanks again for all the help
