are the trannys the same in a 2.9L bronco II and a 4.0L explorer?

im not sure. i would call a junkyard and ask them . or call a dealership and ask in the parts dept. they should know.
 
Also check rrorc.com. I think the 2.9 and 4.0 are the same but check on ther to be sure.

Manual or Auto? I pretty sure that they have two different bell housing patterns. If you have a manual, you will probably have to get a matching tranny. If you have an A4LD you can swap bellhousings.
