I just bought a 1999 Ford F-350 4x4 with the V10, always had diesels but this was a deal I couldn’t pass up, i want to put a better flowing y pipe, I want a better sounding exhaust but not loudddddd, what have you guys done or not done to a V10, this truck will be used primarily for toting the kids and travel trailer around, thanks for any input

As the current owner of 2 v10 fords, I think this is a hard thing to get. Every v10 ford I've heard with an exhaust sounds terrible IMO. I think it must be a v10 thing, cause I've heard alot of shitty sounding vipers too.
Totally agree! A bud had the V10 that was a Banks poster child with *everything* they offered... sounded angry, loud, and shitty

@Chris_Keziah had one and toyed with the exhaust...that's exactly how it sounded when he would pass you
@77GreenMachine said it sounded like a Mustang and a Ferrari all in one. Pretty sure mine had a Flowmaster 40 on it, loud af, do not recommend. If I were to do it again I'd likely do a magnaflow or dynomax flow through style muffler with a resonator. Also be weary of what you may think is an exhaust leak, likely a loose plug.

Sidepipes in Newton did mine, and a few friend's excursions. Mine already had the better y pipe. It has some sound compared to stock but I don't think its too loud at all. Little rumble at idle, and a smooth tone under load. Not sure which muffler he used but it wasn't crazy expensive and he stated that it was going to be his go to after doing mine with it.

I’m really just wanting a little better flow not really sound, I will call side pipes in Newton to see what they can do, I appreciate all the info, 5star tunes has been ordered

Magnaflow is quieter then a AeroTurbine. Magnaflow is deeper and mellow. Edit: wanted to add a quick Google fu netted a clear video of a guy comparing these two. Dr. Somebody sumthin another....
The Aero is a little more raspy and crisp.
The Magnaflow I had on a 360 dodge in duals got louder with age. Not burnt glass packs loud but louder. Was a great tone.

A good friend has an Aero. The cold start is actually has a little ringing sound, as it gets to operating temp his changes pitch. Its actually more racey Indy sounding cold. Quite cool initially. But definitely an early morning wake up...not stupid loud more Tim the Tool Man .Hhhhhhrrrruuuuahhh!

I have a 5 inch MBRP on my 24 valve. Its actually great to me except towing. The tone and decibels have been more than I like......15 years ago I would not say a bad word about it. Now I just want the A.C. cold, the radio clearer, and the exhaust just loud enough to here the shifts and rpm changes.

Let us know how the 5 star does. I've looked into them but never pulled the trigger.

A true sports car V10 is probably the sexiest sounding engine there is.

My Dad put a single entry dual exit flowmaster on his 04 when he bought new.
Sounds like a raspy V6.

It doesn't drone and isn't loud in the cab below 3000 so he's left
