I have ran across a 2001 F250 with the V10 engine. I may can get it at a good deal and was wondering about the durability and longevity of the powerplant. The vehicle currently has 126k on it. What experience have you guys had with this engine? Thanks in advance!

I have one with 151,xxx on it. With reg oil changes they last as long as any eng. The only problem I have seen with them is a few cam issues(lobes rounding off). I will tell you one thing...11.5-12.5mpg is what you will get empty, 6.5-8mpg loaded is what I'm getting.

I towed every weeked with one for 3 years. First engine was under waranty and the second on us. Climbing Fancy Gap on
I-77 hauling a 32' featherlight gooseneck enclosed with a race car was like hauling a anchor with a row boat. If you couldnt keep the rpms up it was a dog. Burnt enough gas to keep the OPEC Nations in business. For ocassional use it would be ok, if you have plenty of gas money. It was good truck, except for the engine.

Oh! Hey, Snappy! Sorry to hear you got one too.
No worries, it's getting a 6bt before too long. DREAM RIG...01 Excurison with p pumped 5.9, lifted(already done) and considering doing the dually rear end!!!Plus the deal I got on it, it will take a little over 250,000 miles to break even on the cost difference on milage between the powerjoke and the v10!!
