So my wife is going horse back riding on Sunday so I plan to head out into the woods to do a little exploring. Her parents live off 74 out towards Lake Lure so I was thinking about dropping her off and then heading out. If I go up 26 is there anything worth going and checking out? Any other recommendations in that neck of the woods?

Sorry, but nothing legal at all. There used to be areas to trail ride around Boys Camp Rd in Lake Lure, but it is now a developed area.

I saw a NC waterfall book on Amazon. if that's what you're looking for, I'd check that out. Prime will get it to you by Thursday.

In an around Brevard there are lots of waterfalls. There are FS roads, but they are just gravel.

That is probably what I'll be stuck with. I was thinking about trying to drive over to hurricane Creek but I think that is a pretty good ride. Oh well I guess I will just drive some forest service roads.

From Lake Lure to Hurricane Creek will be at least an hour drive FYI.

BTW- Larkin's on the Lake has a killer burger.

Never done it. Would it be worth the ride? I'm assuming I would be fine to do it by myself. I'm pretty much self sufficient.

If I did ride over there are there any other fire roads worth driving. I like to see the sites. It's not really about using 4WD but if I get to that is a bonus.

Ride out 9, take 40 to 74a and come back that way. Me and my wife liked that ride. Mild woodsy Hiking trails in gerton off of 9 behind the little country store.. Also the side roads have cool little falls. Also Bradley falls in Mills spring is a nice hike on a warm day, and bring a towel or watershoes, you have to cross two creeks. Beautiful falls up in there, all can be hiked or climbed
