I am working on a 79 cj7. After I get the frame cleaned up? and repaired, what type of covering (paint?) should I use?

Also if anyone has a suggestion there are locking wheel lugs on each wheel I do not have the key. Any thoughts on how to get them off.

Thanks

i've had good luck with POR15, it sets up rock hard and is slick enough that it sheds dirt and mud off easy when you hit it with a water hose, it is good for going over rust spots and stopping rust

Rust Bullet is a single-stage converter/protector paint. You can get it in silver or black. We put it on stuff that sees a lot of salt water, and it typically holds up better than the galvanizing dip we get on our stuff! Seriously, it's good stuff. POR-15 works too, but requires more effort. With Rust Bullet, you brush the scale off and paint. Let dry and paint again, although we only use one coat and it holds up very well. You can order it online.

as far as the lugs either an airchisel or try a socket that just barely fits over the lug with a bit of valve grinding compound in it beat the socket on somewhat and break loose with a breaker bar

I used black Rustoleum spray on mine...looks great and functional.

lock lug removal

they make kits to remove them but can be expensive. before i bought my kit i would use a 12 point 19mm or 3/4 socket and hammer it on and buzz them off. broke some sockets this way but it does work. its tough getting the lug back out of the socket some times but if you lay the socket on its side and hit the socket on the same end as the lug the lug will usually pop out after a couple hits. hope this helps:beer:
