Anyone want some watch rocks?
Don't know if anyone is interested but we struck rock at Churchill Subdivision and have no where to put it. Sizes of all ranges from 20 pound to 20 tons. Free loading on site. Approx. 20,000 cy of it needs to be hauled off site. That's in Knightdale.
Also have rocks the size of cars and smaller setting everywhere at Briars Chapel Subdivision in Chatham County on Wake Co. line. Free loading on site there as well.
Both sites will dispose of the rock in the next coming month or two so you better get it soon if you want it.
Just in case someone in Raleigh area had a Rock Garden in mind...

(Sorry, doughboy stole my password  )

Thanks for the heads up... I wonder if the HOA would notice if I dumped some rocks beside my house? Honestly, is it a load-it-yerself thing, or do they have some equipment onsite? I'd guess I could carry 1-2 tons in my truck, and 2.5 tons on my trailer... No idea how I'd get it off though.

At Churchill at the moment Fowler Contracting has 77 pieces of equipment. Any white man on site can give you directions to the rock. They would be more than happy to load for you.
Briars Chapel has even a larger crew, can't remember the Contractor, but there again, yes, rock is free and plentiful if you just stop and ask at any development. Check your local construction sites.

i've got access to plenty of land ~30 minutes from raleigh, but no good way to transport it. if anyone has the means to move this stuff and wants to build some man made stuff to run, drop me a pm i'm all for it.

 Am I the only one who found that line rather funny as shit???
I know what you meant, it being a construction site and all.

Well congrats on scoring all the rock, I just found more than I can handle for my trail and house -saw it from my treestand yesterday mornin-hunted out of the same tree last year and never noticed the whole hill side of rocks!

Throw a few straps around 'em one at a time, tie the straps to a tree and drive out from underneath them. Or strap the truck/trailer to a tree and snatch 'em off one by one with the Cruggy. :D

OMFG!!!11 LOLZ!!!11 Nice job Rich! I am dying of laughter over here.

aight, so Yager and I went in search of the rock, found the Knightdale subdivision no problem.

Nobody there to ask about the rock that we did see, and would have been most definatly been trespassing/stealing if we had been caught by the Knightdale PD. if we had gone any further than we did.

Who do we contact for actual PERMISSION to go back into the work area and get the rock ?

We would have driven deeper into the development, but the neighbors across the road were really checking us out, and having to deal with a crying kid and a puffed up cop at the same time wasn't my bag today.

Something tells me saying "Some dude on the web told us it was ok" wouldn't fly when the ticket book came out.

Not having a contact name pretty much puts us at the mercy of the local constabulary.

Got more info ? Site foremans name maybe?

I'm sorry to leave you hanging dudes! I only post at work and I'm working today - Sunday. Churchill is on Old Faison Road. Right beside the future I-540. Exit "Hodge Road" from the new 64 bypass, left at light and Olf Faison is on right. What I actually meant to say in earlier post was - ask anyone who speaks English for directions. Just ask "Got rock?"

Just reading and posting as I go, Site foreman is "Peter Hunn" with Fowler Contracting. 461-2220. Hate you had problems dude! I feel bad! Tell him you have friends at BNK that said you had alot of rock to get rid of and you wanted some!

Again, I feel like I created a mess by posting and leaving Friday.

Heck just say you work for BNK and want some of the rock. They blasted Friday at the very rear of the site. You guys couldn't touch the amount of rock they blasted by hand picking. We're talking mega amounts! Enter site "second entrance". The site is divided. Go past 3 big saved Oaks and hang a left to left portion of site. Follow to very rear / bottom of site. Call me if any problems 919-795-8456 - Jeremy.
BNK is the surveyors / engineers of the site. We have a couple of dudes hunting arrowheads out there on weekends. But I guess it does helps to be in the loop.

super thanks for the details, thats perfect, wont plan to call anyone more 'just in case'

I'm gonna try to grab some next weekend.. Im sure voodoo will meet me out there...

We only did the preliminaries on that site. I just know it's the BIG site that is right on the Chatham / Wake County Line. Briars Chapel. You would just have to stop by there in the day time if you wanted specific permission? I just heard through a developer that they had alot of rock down there and no where to put it.
Churchill has a mound of blasted rock that would fill a pickup truck 20,000 times. And another mound we're going to look at today that would triple that. Might try to re-design that one though if all possible.

somebody get on this man. im all for 'ivan's rock garden'

just a fyi: using concrete as an example i looked up the weights on stone in general.. 1 meter cubed (1m x 1m x 1m) 5300# +/- so keep that in mind when your loading your trucks :)

Hell, I'd love to have a big honking car -sized rock for the back yard, but am afraid of the hauling cost. Any ideas? Also, would love to fill in my front ditch with it, but need to think about it more. Any hauling companies to recommend (and an idea of cost to North Raleigh)?
