I'm going to be in Cary Fri/this weekend for a wedding, staying at my parents' place. I love them, but they have dialup 'net access. Unacceptable.
Fri I'm sure I'll need to do some work, prob Sat too, will need real speed for Remote Desktop etc.

Point of all this - are there restaurants/stores/spots in Cary where WiFi is broadcast? Here in W-S, Panera and a few other places do it free.

IIRC, wake co. public librarys now have it. a number of restaurants/coffee places also. starbucks for one i believe, shouldn't be hard to find one of those.

Near crossroads there is a borders bookstore/coffee shop. Free WIFI there :) I think Barnes/Nobles has it also, thats furhter down walnut street (twords cary)

burger king last time i was in that area....

Excellent, if you mean the Barnes N Noble across from Cary high, that's perfect, it's only about 1 mile from the house anyway.
Damn, I remember when that was St. Michael's Church, too... and i could walk through their lot (all woods up to it) to get to the mall...

Even better.
There is an Irish Pub over on Davis that has free WiFi.
Guiness and wifi.
Ermm
Wait.
"work"
Anyway, Cafe Carolina up on Harrison/Weston has good free wifi and good coffee/food.
McDonald's in the area all charge. Stingy bastiches.
Some hotels do, but they usually say only for guests, and a lot of them either require a room, (PITA) or a CC#
:(

Or for a quick fix, just hit up any apt complex :)

just bring up your wireless program and look around your parents house.

I know we have an unsecured wireless internet access, as do a few others in our neighborhood, so I wouldnt see why neighborhoods in Cary would be any different :-D

last time I was up there looking, there was a Bear Rock Cafe in Crossroads Plaza that had it...

for some reason the hotel I was in couldn't get theirs working, so I went and sat in the parking lot at BRC even though they were closed for the evening so I could log into VPN...
