Has anyone ever gone to this site? I thought I had an identity theft so I signed up for their Free services but come to find out they have been charging me $14.95 a month for 2 months?!?

My father explained to me when he signed up the same thing happened to him and he had to call and cancel.

Since I was aware of this I made sure when signing up that I wouldnt be charged for anything. There is a section on the signup that asks for your credit card number for reporting purposes only, your card will not be billed. So I entered my number and got the results. Nowhere on the site did it show I had signed up for their premium credit fraud yada yada services, and on my credit card bill there is a charge from CIC Triple Advantage which I had no idea what that was then the following month I was charged the same amount from Info.FreeCreditReport in which I put 2 & 2 together.

They cancelled the services but would not credit the amount charged even though I told them I did not want the service and never signed up for it. They offered to cut the rate 50% from 14.95 to 7.50 in which I declined.

I told them they need to change their website since it is misleading and they are getting money out of unsuspecting customers due to their error. The rep on the phone got silent and asked if there is anything else he can help me with... I said yea credit me back the $30 bucks, he said they cannot do that.

My question is, who would I report this to? Is this a Better Business Beureau issue? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated b/c this really makes me upset that they can get away with this.:shaking:

Call your credit card company and tell them you didn't authorize the charge.
They'll recredit your account, and "investigate".
My understanding is that charges < $25 aren't really even investigated anymore b/c it's not worth their time.

report with the BBB, your atty general, the FTC and then dispute the charges with your credit card company

It's on their TV ads in fine print (gotta love a DVR). It's FREE with signup for their monthly service.

Going through the same thing

I just got off the phone with Abu or Rahim or whatever and cancelled my account, again. He said he could not prove where I cancelled my account before, which I did.

American companies, taking $ from Americans via the 'fineprint' and employing people overseas. Gotta love it.

nothing is free people...gota pay for the tv ads...

Well I assumed that, and read all the fine print and it stated I wasnt going to be charged and opted out of the credit monitoring program in which they still enrolled me in?

I think its a scam really, I know nothing is free and expect that but I went to i guess annualcreditreport.com last year and like the guy said, it was free for a one time usage and you cannot view your credit score. I guess I assumed the same with this site.

No worries tho, when this happened to my pops he said he called the CC co. and they refunded the charges so that is my next step.

And good point about taking the Americans $ through fine print and hiring workers overseas.... Abdula canceled my account!!!

alot of credit check companies run the same deal. Free for a mo then bla bla bla. To be honest the fine print is there and its kind of your fault. Being a responsible buyer falls in your court. I'd eat it and call it a lesson learned. Usually if its "free" and someone asks for a cc# its not free.

I knew it was not free for the actual report. I paid the the $25 willingly to get my reports. What I cancelled was the $15/month crap. But they saw different.

I actually have the whole monthly credit monitoring thing, yes setup through CC. I can check in on my report from all 3 bureaus any time I want and get their respective scores. Personally I find the comfort worth it - getting your report free once a year is great, but a lot can happen in a year to fuck it up bad.
Best part I liek is that any time tehre is any activity, I get an email notification of it, and if nothing in 30 days - get told that too.

Yes the way this company gets people is sleezy and scammy, but IMO having some kind of service is worth the $$. Chump change compared to most expenses.

Yeah i have to eat the cost, the CC co wouldnt refund it. But true Ratlab, its a good service, and apparantly if you call and complain they will give it to you at half price. Its just deceitful how they go about it. The CC co told me its stated in their fine print that you will be signed up for the service and will need to cancel it within a month to avoid charges. It must have been in size 4 font cause i didnt see that part.

Yeah im an Idiot, its right here in plain sight:

Exactly. Several years ago I was at the bank signing the papers on a new car and while I was there, several hundred dollars were dropping out of my account every five minutes for about an hour, while I was at the bank! Someone got one of my CC #s and was playing online poker.

samething I did when they charged me like 29.99 for 4 months and got the money back

we have a thing thru amex that is 50$ a year. you get two free copies of your credit report from all three agencies, each time there is an inquiry you get a mailed or email alert, you get your credit score and they set up a lock on credit lines. if anyone tried to open a card, buy a car, etc we get a call. way better than life lock, etc which is like 100+ a year. example - i used my card for gas this morn and the wife used her's an hour before me (she's in upstate NY). i got a call to verify 10 min after i left the pump.

and CS is all US based so no talking to apu.
