Please let me know if I missed any elections for the FOU group, but I have a proposal that we reflect the democratic society that we live in.
I propose that we have a preliminary election to establish a preliminary or permanent command structure of representatives for the FOU. We would need representatives from all of the clubs that have been involved in the preservation of our trails to be involved in this attempt to satisfy all people involved with this process. I see that there a lot of people that aren't satisfied with the way things are going. I think that this will put a new spin on the way people feel about the process they are involved in. my heart breaks every time I read a posts where someone doesn't want to be involved with this established open channel of communication with the USFS. It would be a great benefit to FOU if all of the other clubs and groups that have been associated with the efforts to keep the trails open has an opportunity to voice their opinions. This process should put people in charge that have the experience, and the drive to lead and make responsible and sensible decisions in reference to the efforts to keep the forest open to OHV use.

I think a lot of the people that are a part of the system should stay, or be assigned / voted to other positions. I would like to see an election though to establish the pecking order. I hope this isn’t seen as toe stepping, but I feel we are represented by people of our choice people would be less butt hurt about the desertions that are being made.

This is the goal the NC4x4 admin would like to see achieved. Friends of Uwharrie is intended to be more than just work days.

We need to bring the other clubs (especially their URE liasons and general leadership) to the table along with other individuals who are not affiliated with any club and individuals who are affiliated with other recreational interests in the forest (ATV, Equestrian...). Exactly how the FoU board of representatives is chosen could be up for some debate. For example, do clubs nominate their BoR member or ...?

the way I have seen it done in other organizations is that some one will nominate someone for a position. then if that person or people accept the nomination then there would be elections for the nominated position.

I do not have a clue how the local clubs here orginize themselves.

I've moved this to Chit Chat for the time being, so maybe more people will see and those with an interest will participate in the discussion...

I think that's probably a good way to start... hopefully the word will get out and the leaders of the clubs will speak up. :driver:

Thanks!
That's what I was hoping to do was start a discussion and help open a line of communication with all of the groups that have a bad taste in their mouths about this whole thing. So if you don't have anything positive or nice to say, I would like to strongly urge you to please take it to the garage, and not pollute this opportunity to help make FOU a success. I would like to see this thread go forward in a positive & constructive manner, and not be destroyed by negativity.
