Looking good Brent. What axles did you decide to use? I am finally starting on my heep also. What rear axle are you going to use and what kind of wbase are you wanting.

J truck 44 front w/ high steer, and a Waggy HD20 Rear. I wanting a Wheel base that's longer than what I had :D... I think we guestimated I'm ending up at about 89-90"

Brent, You know you like it when I look like that!

Rock City, as for my welding... to be honest, this project is where I learned to weld :D I've been welding for about 2 month.... there's been some grinding and rewelding heree and there...

Looks pretty good man but i have just a few suggestions....first being that I would box the end of the front framerail. That mount looks good but it will put alot of stress on that frame. Also i would definatly plan on lowering it down some. You probably already know this but I know from experience that it is NOT fun driving a tippy rig. :D

I had to remove the front bumper to get in there to weld and mount that stuff. the front bumper is going back on to support the frame rails.

As for lift, it will come down sme when I get the rear mounted up and weight transfered to the front. not much, but some. I have to admit, it did come out with more lift than I planned, and I do prefer the lower center of gravity deal. I'm gonna try it out and see how much flex I get, see if I want to limit some, or stiffen the suspension up (It's REAL SOFT!!!!), and lower it back down a little. I certanily didn't plan on the 10-12" of lift I ended up with.

YEA RIGHT !!! When you can clear 36 - 40 in. tires, you'll be LOVIN life. Looks great Brent A.

What springs and tires are on the jeep?

DAMN NOAH! how many times do you and I have to go over this????

XJ REar leafs all the way around and 36" Swampers.

maybe we didn't cover the tires in the email, but i know you are familiar with te XJ rear leafs :flipoff2:

Yeah but XJ springs won't give you that much lift!! :flipoff2: That's a lot of lift baby. Mine lay flat. How many main leafs do you have in there?

Mine sit pretty flat... I had to add an extra mainleaf to the front packs. I was in a negative arch with out it. with the extra mainleaf it brought me up about 2".

I was surprised at just how much lift I gained. Still don't know quite where it all came from... :headscratch:

glad to see ya learned to weld. It looks good and I wasn't talking crap about the weld (looks good), I just don't like to weld downhill, and its ok on some stuff.

Rig looks good.

keep up the good work

I found that welding downhill was easier than uphill, now granted that's witha Mig and not Stick. Stick i'd go uphill to keep the pool clean. Funny though, one of my best welds on the Jeep was up under the jeep in the back laying on my side with my left hand..... while balancing a beer on my head and fighting off a rabid dog with my foot.... ok, not the last two but you get what I mean :D

You should go ahead and get some 40's then. :gitrdun:

Part of it is the springs.. they will settle in some, mine dropped about an inch, and I had anti-friction strips between all the leaves...

Part of it looks like your front hangar... has quite a few inches of drop in it from the looks of it??
