I finally took a minute to try and figure out why I had a clunking in the front end of my Excursion. Come to find out I have a bad lower ball joint. I am going to pick one up tomorrow and fix it. Any advice on the easiest way to approach it? Other than the obvious to get a ball joint press.

don't get one from autozone

get a moog one and you won't be sorry, also i change them in pairs (think shoes or brakes or tires) If one went the other one isn't far behind

Well I got it out but it wasn't easy. I am trying to find some info. When I was removing the hub assembly there is a metal ring and rubber seal behind it. There is also a small plate with a lip the is on the axle and goes out to the knuckle. Well we ended up bending the plate and the seal. Is there a replacement part or dos any one have the schematic for an 01 PSD 4wd Excursion. For the front axle obviously. Thanks any help

Doug
