Front Hitch

I would like to put a front hitch on my truck.

However, I am not digging the look of the hitch floating below the front facia(lets face it, not a bumper)

I would like for it to be directly behind license plate mount.

I understand that this will put the hitch pin behind the front facia but that's not really much of a problem as long as I can still access it from the back side.

Looking at this curt hitch.

Basically I would like to just buy the side brackets that build my own hitch.

Any helpful suggestions would be great

What if you went at it from a different angle. Buy a rear hitch for the same truck at a junk yard so it has the same frame width then make your own frame brackets. If you put it where the front plate is suppose to go it could stick out a little, then add a hitch tag holder to cover it when not in use the tag sits out a little more than before but not enough to draw attention

That's kinda what I was thinking but I feel that the bracket and the holes and shape would be easier to purchase rather than make.

Probably faster and easier just to build it yourself. Get a couple file folders to make a template. I wouldnt want to spend the $$ on a hitch just to hack it up. What kind of loads will you be putting on the hitch?

Ok. I am still thinking hard about this.

I am of the opinion that I am going to to build it myself.

However, I need some advice. As seen in this picture there are three bolt holes in the bracket. Do you have any tips or tricks as to making sure that all of the holes line up properly? What material would you make the template out of? Bracket it self I think is going to 1/4" plate.

If those bolts arent there, take a manilla envelope and a small ball peen hammer. Put the paper up to the frame and tap the rounded end in and around the holes.

New question.

What would it cost me to have two of these made. 3/16. Holes on both sides.
