I have a 96 12v auto. Was wondering if anyone had any info on swapping a fs4005b 5speed. It came from behind a 12v that was in something else not sure what but it should bolt right up right? An other than the pedals and slave cylinder what else would I need?

Is your 12V in a Dodge? If it is, then that transmission will not bolt right up. It is more than likely an SAE #2 bellhousing which will require you to get the adapter plate for the engine to fit that bellhousing. Is your truck a 4x4 or 4x2? If it's a 4x4 then you're going to have to either go to a divorce mounted t-case or find and/or make an adapter to run a stock transfer case. That should also have a mechanical actuated clutch, so you're hydraulic system won't work. According to the model number, that transmission isn't overdrive, so you're fuel mileage is going to suffer, and you're going to lose a lot of top end speed.

This can be a costly swap so if you're going to do it, the most desired transmission is the FSO6406A. 6 Speed and overdrive. But they are hard to find.

Thanks for the info. My truck is 2wd but was not aware that the trans didn't have od. Was looking for an alternative to the nv4500 since people want an arm and a leg for them. I really want to find someone that wants an auto swap so I can just trade my trans for theirs

It's going to be hard to find someone that wants an auto in place of a manual. There are several writeups on cummins forum where people have swapped in Fuller transmissions because they are stronger, more reliable, and cheaper than an NV4500, NV5600, or G56 and they are relatively the same size. The FSO6406A is basically the same, gear and size wise, as a 5600 or G56. You can find an FS-6406A and swap out 5th and 6th gear to make it an overdrive. The direct drive transmissions are a lot cheaper and easier to find. There are several writeups about doing that as well. I am looking for a 6406 direct drive because I want the 9.01:1 1st and 8.63:1 reverse that it offers, then I will swap in an OD 6th gear. I'm not sure if you can use the direct drive 6th gear in the 5th gear position or if you have to buy a new direct 5th gear.

As far as the part number breakdown, for future reference:

F=Fuller
S=Synchronized
(O)=Overdrive
4=X100=Nominal Torque Capacity
0=Design Level
05=Forward Speeds
B=Ratio Set
