alright guys, want to drop my dinky factory tank on the yj, and put a fuel cell in the back storage area. i dont' have a back seat so thats not an issue, i just can't find something like i think would fit nice and lookgood still. any ideas? what are you guys running, and the fuel cell will be in the passenger compartment so got to vent it to the exterior

I ran a 95' YJ with a fuel cell in the back. I cut out the back half of the rear floor and raised it about 5" so I could mount the cell underneath the floor. The front half of the rear floor then became a toolbox. Here's a pic:
YJ Fuel Cell

PM if you want more info.

Although the above cell looks good and should be plenty strong since it is 3/16" aluminum, I'd suggest always using straps to hold down cells. Flexing of the chassis can cause cracks. Plus, if you ever roll over, ALL the weight of the fuel is pulling on those bolts. This really oly applies to the ones you can buy that are made out of ~.080 aluminum (3/16" is .188).

I had a fuel cell I made out of 1/8" aluminum and strapped it down, never had problems with it leaking.

well i have been looking at an rci one that my yj sending unit and pump will fit in, got to cut obviously and fab a little making a back plate and welding the bolts to it. but i'm thinking about turning it long way beside the driver's side rear fender well. any ideas or thoughts or anybody done this???

yeah, gonna run rubber isolators on the mounts and then rubber matting to support the center section, is there anything i can do to queit the fuel pump down some? i hear it when i start the jeep so i know i'll hear it in the passenger compartment.

I run the RCI tank behind my seats. I love it and it works really well. Alex just cut a hole in the top and we were able to reuse the stock sending unit and pump. I dont think the pump is super loud, but then again, i dont ever run with a top on.

lbyota85 tanks are the shit .. i would take one any day over a store bought one .. plus you can get any shape or size

well how much would one of those set me back, built to the dimensions of the cri 1261 i think... to fit the stock stuff that will fit on the driver's side fender side between tailgate and front seat
