Decided to get rid of the steel twin tanks on my 84 and move to a fuel cell. Don't really know much about them or what to look for. Looking for a fuel cell that at least 16 gallons. Just looking for some input and direction.

I just put a RCI 16 gallon in my XJ. Works great

Should I get one that is aluminum? Plastic? Foam filled?

I skipped alluminum because I mounted it in the back of the jeep and they are expensive.

I went with brand new to avoid and supprises.

I was told pump gas ( because of ethenol ) would deteroriate the foam.

i have had good luck with rci cells. i currently use a rci 16gal cell on my rig.
you can get it with or without sender and dont use foam with pump gas or it will turn to little black chunks in your fuel system.
you will also need a rollover check valve or atleast some creative routing of the vent line to prevent fuel spills or you can plumb the vent into the factory evap canister to prevent fuel smell. some may say plumbing it to the evap will suck the cell flat but i have yet to see it happen!

If you're interested I've got an aluminum RCI sitting around the shop I need to get rid of. I removed it from a customers jeep to build a new custom fit tank. It's a bottom sump 16 gallon or so w/sending unit. The owner painted it black for some reason and the paint has started chipping some. The only thing it needs is the filler insert. I used it in the new cell I built. If you come get it you can have it for 40 bucks. All it needs is the filler insert and that can be had from summit for fairly cheap.

Navacayne75 was the guy that installed mine. It works perfect.

Chris, Pull a tape on that cell for me when you have a minute. If this guy dosent want it I am interested.
Thanks!

I run a 15 gallon rci. All but one mounting tab broke off but that was the way I mounted it. They like to be strapped down more than bolted but I also cut my jeep no slack. It also cracked down the side where the factory weld was about 4 inches but got a friend to weld it back up and its still going strong. I would buy another one for sure bottom line.
