The fuel pick up in my fuel cell has a hard tube that goes down about 1/16" inch off the bottom of the tank. The problem is that if I strap the cell down, the bottom of the cell, and that tube will meet. Is this normal?
Possible solutions, I could cut a 1/4" off the bottom of it, or cut it off higher, and have a flex line with a wieght on it so that it will follow the fuel in off camber situations. Any other bright ideas?
Returning the cell may not be possible since I cut off the mounting tabs.
Here is how its mounted

...and I have to assume you're using that pick up?

reason I ask, is I have a similar cell but didn't use their pickup...

it's definitely going to either need to be cut, if it is indeed hitting the bottom...or you could probably drill a couple holes near the bottom and it would work just fine...

Yes, I would like to use it as the fuel pick up. It doesn't look like there is enough room to drill a hole in it.

Since you have a TJ, did you mount the fuel pump/sending unit to the top of your cell?

yep...I used the factory pump and sending unit...

by "enough room"...you mean getting a drill in there?

Right.. the tank is 18" wide, and the pick up tube is centered left to right. It would be really tight, if it did fit. I'm off to Northern to see if they have something small enough to get in there.

just an idea...I have a right angle drill attachment for a Dremel...

so maybe you could find something like that to buy/borrow?
