I would like to see your full hydro/hydro assist reservoir set ups. I'm about to do a WJ v8 pump on my 98 4.0 and would like some input from people who have done this before. I haven't bought a reservoir yet but I'm leaning towards the PSC with integrated filter.

What have you guys done that worked well or didn't work well? How close did you mount the resv to your pump? Did you drill and tap the inlet to the pump?

Just make sure the reservoir is above the pump. Get at least a #10 feed line.

The inlet to the pump isn't threaded. What fitting is good for the pump side? Most of the aftermarket reservoirs have a -10 outlet.

what pump do you have?

most have -6 outlet and a -8, -10, or -12 inlet or just a threaded hole and ya have to screw which ever size AN fitting in the inlet side

I'm going to get a pump tomorrow. I could've swore the TJ pump I looked at wasn't threaded

the stock WJ pump isnt threaded.

Some have pressed a fitting in, some have tigged a fitting on, some talk about tapping but havent actually seen that. I have also seen an oring fitting where someone used a hold-down plate to keep it in.

Post pictures of what you get figured out. I'd like to swap out the integrated reservoir on my 94 pump. Every time I'm on a steep incline that shitty lid dumps my fluid.....

I picked up one of these yesterday. It's from an 85 S-10 with a 2.5. The 5/8 feed line that came with my PSC reservoir fits perfect on the inlet of the pump.

I sat the new reservoir in place yesterday and I might.....have to cut a hole in my hood.

I talked with multiple people and most had about the same luck with stock TC pumps vs PSC pumps. The PSC was going to be almost 200 and at that price I couldn't afford to buy a spare. If I burnt a pump up on the trail and I needed a cheapo to get my home then I'd have to modify my return line because no one of the readily available pumps have a -10 fitting on them.

I will have to put a adapter for the pressure side so I can use a -6 hose on it so the total cost for the pump will be aprox. 75$

If it sucks then I'll reconsider a PSC pump or running two stock TC pumps

I tapped it slowly with lots of lube.
