Whats up guys I got a few questions. I am looking at getting a trail rig here in a few weeks. I am looking at spending 3-4k at first. My cousin has a k5 that needs a motor and trans. It also needs a cheap paint job. He already stripped it for paint. Will I have trouble getting a K5 all through URE and all the close places to us? Or would I be better finding a jeep?

K5 would work fine, be tight on some trails but I have taken a standard cab f-250 through with no body damage and been with a ext cab f-150 that got minor damage. but if the k5 needs a motor and trans you better be getting a sweet deal for 3-4k budget.

It might be a better idea to take your 4k and find a cheap YJ or the like, but a full size will fit at Uwharrie with ease.

you can find a killer trail rig for that price ready to go...... a k5 would work at URE. but you might be limited at other places. id look into a cheap suzuki or toyota and go from there. they are the cheapest to lift and are almost trail ready stock.

i take my 2500 up there and never got ne body damage and go everywhere my buddies with jeeps go so u should be fine all depends on how u drive

toyota... pre 86 are already stright axle but there are several later models floating around swapped over. just look in the rigs for sale on here plenty to choose from!

I've wheeled a 2001 dodge ram quad cab at URE with no issues. Made my bronco feel so much more nimble on the trail. And the Bron o is the same size as a k5.

Depends on what you want to wheel I guess. Full size a URE would be fine. Take it to the Flats and you would get some body damage.

I started out looking at full size Cherokees and ended up with a small one and ended up loving it.

I know this is totally off topic but since its my thread I will ask. How long can you ride at the flats? Can you ride there anytime? The only place I have been is URE and I will only have a few weeks to wheel at ure once I get a rig in a month.

I've ran a 79 bronco at ure, the flats, Harlan ky, wind rock and ill go ahead and tell ya stick with a smaller rig.... Cheaper to haul and it won't be beat all to hell as quick... I've been on several trails and rubbed both sides bout the whole way through and a full size is harder on parts in my opinion unless you got the jack to pay for some good parts

Gotcha that does make seance I will be towing with a 01 Yukon so the smaller the better for me. I can tow a good amount since I have a helper bags in the coils. Along with a cai and a tune and a bigger trans cooler
