What is the strength of a full width 10 bolt? Would it hold up pretty good behind a 150ph motor and and light weight truggy? The truggy would have 37" tires on it. I was considering welding the frount diff but if it would keep me from breaking then I would leave it open in the frount.

LET THE FLAME BEGIN

I RUN A 10B ON A K5 WITH 38.5 BOGGERS, OPEN....BROKE 1 SHAFT IN 3 YEARS...AT TELLICO 2 , BEFORE TH GATE KEEPER WAS REMOVED....

I KNOW OF ANOTHER K5 WHO HAS RAN 42S FOR 2 SEASONS WITH NO BREAKAGE...

NEITHER IS LOCKED AND COMMON SENSE IS A GIVEN...

IN A TRUGGY I SAY GO FER IT, SPECIALLY IF THE PRICE IS RIGHT

125 bones??? I think that it is

I think they are better than d44's, except no high pinion. 10b's are easier to find than d44's I think, especially all of the chevy guys just throwing them away. I see sets for sale anywhere from free to $200.

I just wouldn't run one in the rear...c-clips...find a single floating 14bolt (still c-clips) or a full floating 14 bolt, or hell even a 9 inch, or anything else that isn't c-clips. Unless that breaks the budget.

Hell, you could probably find somebody to give them to you...I had to throw mine in with a set of tires to get them gone from the house.

My jeep has one in the front it is the 30 spline model. 4.88 with detroit and stock shafts. I converted it to a 8 lug and also went with d44 flat top knuckles. I run a 91 yj with 4.0 ho nv4500 d300 and 38 tsl haven had any problems except a leaky passenger side seal. My jeep is 3600 lbs by the way and I beat the crap out of it.
my .02

I used to have a 10 b/12b in my Heep. Run 35 boggers. ARB's front and rear. I had spare shafts for all four corners, in 6 years, I never broke any of them! So all in all I can't complain. Bear in mind though, I did have ARB's and when I didn't have to have them locked they weren't and that took a lot of stress off of them. A light weight rig I think would be fine. I seen a group of full size blazers once going up slick rock at Tellico. Everyone of them that had 10 bolts, and were locked, broke an axle. So I think the weight issue is the biggest factor. They also sell chrome molys for them too.

A bud of mine in east TN ran them also... fiberglass CJ5/4.3L/SM420/NP20? & 38" Gumbos.... said folks were basically "throwing them away" already geared & locked. He had several sets of shafts & complete housing ready to drop in, but never needed to! Believe me, you'd have thought he stole the thing! Scared me so bad on Peckerwood (pulled it with the frontend off the ground.... almost back flipping a time or two), I walked the rest of the day :flipoff2:

I thought it was a 60 when I first looked at the truck...it has a 14 bolt rear with matching gears...8lug 10bolt frount...I have a buddy that it hooking me up with some spare shafts...he had one that he used to make a rear disc brake conversion for a 14bolt. I'm also going to be runnin the 37" hummer tires on H1 wheels.

This thing had one in it and it broke shafts just about everytime out and it wasn't very heavy and on 38x12.50s . Don't lock it and drive it like an old lady and you should be fine.
