I am thinking of going with a set of Chevy full widths under my CJ.

I have a Dana44 front, and was wondering about the steering setup you guys are using.

Any photos showing your front setup would be great.

Any tips or things I should look out for?

Thanks

I have a 89 yj and I am using the stock steering box, (tapped for hydro assist) the stock length drag link from the truck I got the axles from. Everything lined up fine. The front is a dana 60 from a GM truck.

Wow, that would be awesome if everything just lined up and dropped in place like that.

I'll have to see if the drag link is still there or not.

Are you spring over or under right now?

maybe Noah(spraypaintman) will chime in,ive seen a couple of his rides with full widths,so he can shed some light also

To go full width on a CJ you have to out-board your springs. Reason being the location of the diff prevents you from going under your frame. No biggie, several companies sell a kit to do it, or you can fab your own.. Also a good time to go with the shackles in the rear instead of up front. As far as steering, flat tops would be the best choice esp if you are going spring over. You can also use the stock tie rod, flipped around. Using the factory steering stabilizer hole in the tie rod, pretty easy to do your cross over steering, you just have to lengthen your drag link or make a whole new one.

I knew about having to outboard the springs, but that is pretty basic fab work and not a problem at all.

I guess I need to just get all the pieces together and see what's what.

upnover is right... I thought you were running a yj for some reason. didnt read too well I guess.

Here are some waggys, the narrow fullsize axle option (narrow width, wide perches)

As low as you can drop a spring over with crossover steering
