Fun day with my cars on Saturday

Spent a lot of the day Saturday pulling the 454 out of my Burb and test fitting the 8.1L. Took way longer than I hoped, but got it sitting in there and can check clearances and all now.

Then took out my Trans Am for a drive. Car in front of me hit a small log (probably a piece of firewood that fell off a truck or something) and sent it spinning and I couldn't avoid it. Bounced all over under the car. Pulled over and didn't see anything other than the pass side O2 sensor wire was ripped off. Kept on cruising down the road, about 5 miles in all of a sudden all hell breaks loose in the frontend of the car. I pull over and notice the pass side front brake caliper is loose. I had machined some aluminum brackets to convert the front of the car to C5/C6 Vette brakes a long time back, and apparently the log had hit it and broken off one of the spacers and knocked one of the bolts loose and it fell out. Caliper got into the wheel, gouged everything up. Dad came and picked me up and ran me to the house for another bolt and some tools, managed to bandaid it back together to get it the last few miles back to the house. Now I gotta fix it in prime t-top off cruising weather.

Then Sunday morning I go out to see that the ful lines I capped off on the Burb when I took the motor out had somehow come loose and dumped about 15 gallons of fuel onto the garage floor.

Here's to hoping this week goes better....

Dang. I feel you man.
All power to my brakes went out a mile from my house in my tow rig/DD on the way back from Gulches. Spent all afternoon Sunday trouble shooting it.

By the way, I found 2 missing pieces of plastic for that 4 wheeler.

Awesome! I'll hit you up next time I'm out that way.

@Blaze if you didn't have bad luck, you would have no luck at all!

You aren't trying hard enough.

Two weekends back I had the battery out of the GTO to do some desulfating and the tow rig on jack stands waiting for a replacement caliper to replace one that had locked up. The Derelict truck clutch master cylinder took a dump on the way home from the grocery store, then the TJs electric fan went tits up and caused an overheat while on the way to AutoZone to get parts. The motorcycle was working, but about 6months out of inspection/registration.

The best transportation I could legally muster for 12 hours was a bicycle.

I always enjoy the comment “you are so fortunate you fix everything yourself”. Sometimes it’s a curse but it still better than having to tow or drop it off and then worrying about if it’s fixed correctly.

My weekend was just as "good"!

Saturday, swapped out the coolant filter housing (initial freebie housing had a leak, likely chiwanese milling) on the dually... should've taken an hour-2 tops, but I managed to do it 6 with only 1 run to the parts house! Since it started raining... biblical flooding, oil/filter & fuel filter swaps were belayed until later in the week.

Sunday (still rainy), decided to swap the venturi/steering crap out on the Seadoo... should've taken an hour tops, but managed to snap one of the SS bolts off in the AL pump housing. So, pulled the pump housing to repair and then found the seals are shot :poop:(water in pump bearing spacer)... AND then broke a bit off in the pilot hole trying to drill it out! :kaioken:

After that, I was scared to touch anything else and watched movies the rest of the day

Passed an old Farmer looking guy last week, as he rode his riding mower down the road, towing a homemade trailer. In the trailer was a Large tire on a rim. Passed him on my way back, as he had been to a local tire store, & was returning home, with tired repaired!
